Health and Safety

Before training with CWCT or acquiring a CSCS card individuals must hold a CSCS  Health and Safety certificate.  The test is taken at the candidate's local driving test centre.

Suitable training is available through the CITB or from private providers but the Health and Safety test has to be taken at a driving centre.

Health and safety testing
This is done through your local driving test centre. Opening times are flexible and include evenings and weekends.

When you have your CSCS Registration number (if you are already registered with CWCT, we will send you a CSCS application form bearing this number):

Telephone the H&S booking line (0870 600 4020) and book a test.  The test will be booked at a centre convenient for you.

This will cost £35 (including VAT) per candidate;  you may pay by credit card.  If you do not pay by credit card, they will send you a form which you must complete and return with a cheque.

Be ready to give the following information:

  • Full names
  • CSCS Registration number
  • To confirm your booking, you will be sent a study book and questions with the correct answers.

The test involves answering 35 questions in 40 minutes.  The questions are multiple-choice, answered via a touch-screen computer.  Help will be available to take you through a practice session before the test, if you wish.
