Finding us on campus

From the East car park walk to the bus turning point and up the ramp alongside building 6 East. Continue straight ahead and Wessex House is the second tall building.

From the bus stop walk up the ramp alongside building 6 East. Continue straight ahead and Wessex House is the second tall building.

From the West car park walk up the ramp alongside building 8 West. Wessex House is the first tall building.

Take a taxi to Wessex House steps use the lift which is to the right of the steps.

 

Finding the University of Bath campus

By car
The University campus is situated on Claverton Down, to the east of Bath. The A4 and A36 roads run through the city; the M4 motorway is approximately 10 miles distant.

If approaching from the M4, leave the motorway at junction 18 and follow the A46 south 8 miles to the Bath exit from the new dual carriageway. This brings you on to the A4 westbound to Bath. After 1.5 miles turn left at the traffic lights (signposted 'City Centre A36'); after 700 yards turn left at the roundabout towards Warminster (A36). In approximately 300 yards turn right into North Road (signposted 'Claverton Down'). The Quarry Road entrance to the campus is on the left towards the top of the hill (approximately 1 mile); the Norwood Avenue entrance is half a mile further on in Claverton Down Road.

If approaching from the city centre, the A4 or the A36 eastbound follow signs to 'Warminster', 'Claverton Down', 'American Museum' and 'Park & Ride (University)"'

If approaching from the A36 (northbound) follow signs to 'Claverton Down'.

By air
Flights to London Heathrow connect with:

1  National express coach from Heathrow Central bus station to Bath Spa (time 2 hours)
2  Heathrow express to Paddington and train to Bath Spa
3  Rail air link to Reading and train to Bath Spa (all booked as a through rail journey)

There are flights to Bristol Airport, 40 km from Bath.  To travel on to Bath it is necessary to travel into Bristol and take a train or bus to Bath.  Alternatively it is approximately 45 minutes by taxi.

By rail to Bath Spa
Bath Spa mainline station is on the London Paddington to Bristol line. Half-hourly services run to London, a journey of approximately 90 minutes. Bristol, with connections to the Midlands, the North and the South West is a 15 minute journey. Rail Track Timetable information.

By coach to Bath
National Express services operate from Bath Coach Station to and from Heathrow Central bus station, London Victoria and other destinations.

By bus from Bath to the University
First run buses from the City Centre to the University (Details) The buses running between the University and City Centre are the 18, 418 and 419. From the railway station walk through the bus station. The bus leaves from a bus stop outside the chip shop.

By taxi
Taxis are usually available from outside the railway station or from 'Orange Grove', which is next to the Abbey. The fare to the University should be about £5. From the station ask to go via 'Widcombe Hill' otherwise you are likely to be taken through town which may be more expensive.

Other information

The campus is about a mile from the city, and most of the way is uphill; so only try walking it if you're feeling fit!
