Outline
This course introduces the key concepts for understanding carbon and related environmental indicators, including global warming potential (GWP), in the built environment. It outlines the embodied carbon life cycle framework and explains the relevance of its modules to façade design.
Target Audience
Façade consultants, architects, contractors, sustainability professionals, and design managers.
Learning Objectives
- Understand carbon in relation to façade design,
- Explain global warming potential (GWP),
- Understand life cycle stages (A1–C4, D),
- Interpret the embodied carbon life cycle framework,
- Apply life cycle thinking to façade design.
Assessment
- Assessment will be via a series of multiple-choice questions following the course,
- The assessment is timed and must be passed in order to receive a CWCT CPD certificate for the course,
- If the assessment is failed, one re-take will be permitted.
Pre-requisites
Basic understanding of façade systems and sustainability concepts.
