About this event
This year’s CWCT virtual Members’ Meeting will cover three hugely important and relevant topics to all those working in the façade industry.
Firstly, John Downes from Lendlease and Anna Wendt from Buro Happold will give an update on work CWCT is doing related to the sustainability of facades.
The tragedy of Grenfell has brought into sharp focus serious failings within the construction industry, and we have two speakers to talk about some of the work that has been going on in the past few years.
There have already been, and will continue to be, significant regulatory changes in how buildings in particular taller residential buildings, are designed, constructed and managed. These cover technical standards as well as the competence of those undertaking work. Dr Hywel Davies, Technical Director of CIBSE, will describe the programme of regulatory change and discuss its implications and how the industry might look to respond to these challenges.
The way in which construction products are tested and assessed has come under scrutiny following evidence given at the Grenfell Inquiry. Our final speaker, Paul Morrell, former chief construction adviser to the UK government will be sharing some personal thoughts arising from his current work as lead of an independent review of the system of testing construction products.
We aim to end the event with a panel discussion and encourage you actively participate in this. If you would like to raise and issues or ask a question in advance of the event, please email email@example.com with your comments.
This free online event (via Microsoft Teams) is in place of our usual annual face-to-face Members’ Meeting in London.
Please note that places are limited, and we may have to restrict places where companies have booked multiple places. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but plan to record the event and will make the recording available to CWCT Members.
CWCT provides training for many people involved in the design, specification and construction of building envelopes. This comprises standard programmes and one-off seminars.
