Government call for evidence: Strategy for the built environment professions, trades and occupations

The government have recently published a call for evidence to inform policy on those working in the building professions, trades and occupations.

This is an information gathering exercise:

  • What are the main challenges?
  • What are the opportunities?
  • What is already in place that works?
  • What could be improved?

The call for evidence is deliberately broad – this is not just about high-risk buildings.  This is about the overall life cycle of a building and is split into 5 sections:

  • Pre-design,
  • Design and specification,
  • Construction,
  • Operation and maintenance
  • Cross-cutting issues, themes and challenges.

The government want a wide response and therefore you should focus on those areas that are most relevant.

Further details can be found here.

This is really important, and we encourage you all to provide direct feedback to this call for evidence.  When you respond, please indicate in your response whether you are a CWCT Member.

CWCT will also be responding, and as always, we want your feedback to help inform our response.  To help facilitate this, we have extracted all of the questions from the call into a spreadsheet. Please use this spreadsheet to provide your answers to as many of the questions as possible.  PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR FEEDBACK BY FRIDAY 24 JULY.
