CE Marking

The Construction Product Regulation (CPR) came into law in 2011 and requires certain construction products to be CE marked from 1 July 2013. This will change the way in which those products are tested, marketed and specified in the UK. These pages describe how curtain walling, windows and other building envelope products are CE marked and the implications for specifiers.

It has been common practice in the UK to use the CWCT Standard for Systemised Building Envelopes (SSBE) when specifying, designing and testing curtain walling. There are some small differences between the CWCT SSBE and the requirements for CE marking. These are explained within these pages.

The CWCT SSBE is still valid for curtain walling as it contains additional information relating to UK Building Regulations and appropriate levels of performance for use in the UK. It is also valid for other forms of systemised building envelope.
